Junior Software Engineer
John graduated from Walla Walla University in 2019 with a BA in Computer Science and a minor in psychology. During his education he worked as an intern for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers where he received an award for excellence from the Northwestern Division for his development of the NWD Database Tool. While employed at the Corps of Engineer’s Public Affairs office he also developed Artemis.
Artemis uses a series of parallel neural networks to determine whether newspaper articles have a negative, positive or neutral rating based on training information fed to them. Artemis at its best has been able to achieve an accuracy rating of over 90%. The neural networks used in Artemis were built from the ground-up by John in Java which allowed him to gain a firm understanding of how neural networks work and learn. He has since also created a neural network system for use in his C# projects.
John also has experience developing video game software, his last game project Xanor included an algorithm for random planet generation (2D textures), as well as fully functioning AI to control enemy fighters, space worms and battleships.
Since joining Hecate John has garnered experience with web development and relational databases and continues to learn under the tutelage of his peers.
